Ski Trip Weekend

2016 Troop 20 Snow Sports Weekend Campout

Troop 20 will be heading north the weekend of  February 26th – February 28th, 2016, to the Mt. Abram Family Ski Resort in Greenwood, Maine for a 2-day snow sports activity weekend. Mt. Abram offers a special program for scouts interested in working on and earning the Snow Sports merit badge. The troop will be staying at the American Legion Hall in Greenwood, just a few minutes from the ski area. Parents and siblings are also welcome on this trip.
The troop will cover the cost of transportation and meals for the weekend, while Scouts and family members will need to cover the cost of lodging, skiing, equipment and lessons, as listed below. All prices below are PER DAY, except lodging.

$52                  Learn-to-Ski/Ride Package (all ages, beginner lift, rentals, group lesson)*
$22                  JR./SR. Lift ticket
$29                  Adult Lift ticket
$18                  All Ages Ski or Snowboard rentals
$19                  Group Lessons All Ages
$5                    Helmet rentals
$10                  1-day Tubing
$10                  Lodging FOR THE WEEKEND
* Learn to Ski package is limited to a beginners area lift ticket, first time skiers only

Scouts can work on downhill skiing or snowboarding for the merit badge. The Mt. Abram ski patrol will provide winter first aid training as part of the merit badge. For anyone not interested in the Snow Sports merit badge or activities but who would still like to go on the weekend, you can consider tubing, hiking or snowshoeing around Mt. Abram, or possibly ice fishing.

Everyone going on the trip that will be taking a lesson or tubing needs to complete the Mt. Abram liability release form. Anyone needing to rent equipment must complete the paper equipment rental form.  The equipment rental form (if renting) and a $25 deposit for everyone attending, must be returned by the troop meeting on Jan. 28th, so we can get an accurate headcount for Mt. Abram and determine transportation and food needs. The balance owed is due by the troop meeting on Feb. 11th.

The troop has not finalized departure or arrival times yet, but knowing this is a 2+ day program, everyone should be aware that we will not arrive back home until Sunday night.
Departure will be Friday night. Ask anyone who has gone before, this is a great weekend and we hope everyone can attend. Please see Mr. Gilson for the forms, or if you have any questions.
