Troop Meeting this Thursday at Sacred Heart Parish Hall - 7:00pm

Hello Troop 20!

Before we make any announcements, we'd like to share a picture of our friend and fellow scout, Mitch Lamoureux in training with the Air Force.  We all wish him well and hope he stays safe!

Here are the Troop updates for this week:

1) Troop meeting at the Parish Hall this week - 7:00pm

2) Scouts participating in the Personal Management merit badge will meet this Thursday to continue the merit badge program.

3) Troop Dues - The dues for this Scouting year are going to be $100 per Scout.  Dues are due by November 30th and checks should be made payable to: Troop 20.

4) Cooking Merit Badge - Mr. Devine would like all Scouts who have started the Cooking Merit Badge to please bring in your blue cards and other pertinent information so that we can get a baseline of where everyone is.

5) Ski Trip - Our annual ski trip is currently planned for January 19 - 21, 2018.  If you are interested in attending, a non-refundable deposit of $20 per scout is due by November 16th.  We will post additional details in the coming weeks as they become available.

6) Fall Cranboree - November 17 - 19, Camp Norse, 112 Parting Ways Road, Kingston, MA.

  • Arrival time is Friday, November 17th between 5:30 - 6:00pm.  Scouts should eat before they arrive.
  • We will be at campsite Kolli (our usual one).  If you have never been to Camp Norse before, please see the map below.

  • We are still determining the cost per Scout and will post to the blog as soon as we know.
  • Pickup time will be 8:00am on Sunday, November 19th.
  • For every scout attending, we must have current medical forms and current contact information so that a parent can be reached in the event of an emergency.
  • The weather has turned cold and we may likely have rain late Saturday and overnight Saturday into Sunday.  Scouts are responsible for bringing appropriate attire for the weather.  If the leaders determine that a Scout is not properly prepared for the weather, we will contact the Scouts parents to come back and correct the situation.
  • Lastly, please remember that all Scouts must have a water bottle with them at all times.
7) Trebuchet Update - We had a very successful test this past Sunday and expect to be ready to compete this weekend!  The main trebuchet crew for the competition will be those scouts who were present for the testing and learned how to setup, arm, and fire the machine.  They will be responsible for teaching other scouts who wish to participate.  With that said, the main trebuchet crew will be:
  • Jared Pierce
  • Jacob Rebell
  • Mark Swindle
  • Ben Sanford
