There will be a committee meeting this Thursday at 6:15pm at Sacred Heart Parish Hall.
There will be a Troop meeting immediately following the committee meeting at our regular time. 7:00PM. Please remember that we line up for our opening ceremony at 7:00PM so you need to plan to be at the hall 10-15 minutes earlier, in Class A uniform. If you arrive during the opening ceremony, please remain in the foyer until we complete the opening, then you may join your patrol.
Merit Badges:
- We will be having the Pets merit badge and the Citizenship merit badges this week.
- For Scouts participating in the Pets merit badge, Mrs. Drass would like you to please bring in your workbooks so that she can check progress. You are also reminded that you should have located a book or pamphlet on your pet and you should bring this to show as well.
- Scouts working on the Citizenship merit badges should be prepared with their workbooks to show progress and get requirements signed off.
Eagle Court of Honor for Thomas Devine:
Just a reminder that Thomas Devine will be having his Eagle Scout Court of Honor on Saturday April 13th at the Town Hall Ballroom at 1:00PM. We would like all Scouts to arrive 30 minutes early, at 12:30PM, in full Class A uniform, looking sharp. Remember, full class A is your Scout shirt, with all of the appropriate patches and rank affixed, your Troop 20 neckerchief and slide or a bolo from a Scout event such as NYLT, your Troop 20 hat, and your merit badge sash if you have one, with all of your current merit badges affixed.
Please put this on your calendar and plan to be there to celebrate Thomas's achievement of obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout! A light luncheon will be served immediately following the ceremony.
Troop Planning & Events:
- Nantucket Island - We apologize for this dragging on so long but we are still tentatively planning a camping/bike trip to Nantucket Island for June 21-23. The dates are tentative because we are having trouble getting Camp Richard to acknowledge whether or not there is a camp site available for us. For some reason, we have been unable to make contact with them. Mr. Holt has sent in our campsite request, along with a deposit, in the hopes this will get a response. Until then, we have to remain in a holding pattern and we cannot book the ferry reservations. We hope to have updates very soon, once we can confirm with Camp Richard.
For any Scouts that have never been to Nantucket with the Troop, this is a great trip that everyone always enjoys. We head over on a Friday morning and we bring over the Scouts bikes and camping gear. We spend two nights at BSA Camp Richard and bike around the island, checking out the sights.
- Nantucket Island Shakedown Rides - We will be planning 2 shakedown rides at the Cape Code Canal, prior to the Nantucket Trip, to make sure that all of our Scouts and their bikes are ready to do a lot of riding on Nantucket. We expect these will likely be in May, once the warm weather sets in on a regular basis.
We look forward to seeing our Scouts this Thursday!
