We will be having our regular Troop Meeting this Thursday, April 11th, at 7:00pm. Sacred Heart Parish Hall. Please remember that we line up for our opening ceremony at 7:00PM so you need to plan to be at the hall 10-15 minutes earlier, in Class A uniform.
We would like to remind Scouts that one of the requirements to move up in rank is 'active participation' in the Troop. Missing meetings and arriving late does not count as active participation and may cause delays in Scouts moving up in rank. This includes Eagle Scout. The photo below was from last week's Troop meeting. We know we have more Scouts than this and we should really be seeing better participation. We understand that there can sometimes be conflicts with school activities and sports but if that's the case, you should be talking to the leaders to make sure we understand the circumstances. Let's all try to be active participants in our Troop.
Merit Badges:
- Scouts working on the Citizenship and Pet merit badges should be prepared with their workbooks to show progress and get requirements signed off if our merit badge counselors are available.
Eagle Court of Honor for Thomas Devine:
Just a reminder that Thomas Devine will be having his Eagle Scout Court of Honor on Saturday April 13th at the Town Hall Ballroom at 1:00PM. We would like all Scouts to arrive around 12:00 - 12:30PM, in full Class A uniform, looking sharp. Remember, full class A is your Scout shirt, with all of the appropriate patches and rank affixed, your Troop 20 neckerchief and slide or a bolo from a Scout event such as NYLT, your Troop 20 hat, and your merit badge sash if you have one, with all of your current merit badges affixed.
Please put this on your calendar and plan to be there to celebrate Thomas's achievement of obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout! A light luncheon will be served immediately following the ceremony.
We may be setting up for the Court of Honor on Friday but timing is not worked out yet so stay tuned.
Troop Planning & Events:
- Nantucket Island - It looks like the weekend of June 21-23 is full at Camp Richard so we're trying for another weekend. We'll let you know as soon as we hear back from them. Mr. Holt has sent in our campsite request, along with a deposit, so hopefully we will get a response. Until then, we have to remain in a holding pattern and we cannot book the ferry reservations. We hope to have updates very soon, once we can confirm with Camp Richard.
For any Scouts that have never been to Nantucket with the Troop, this is a great trip that everyone always enjoys. We head over on a Friday morning and we bring over the Scouts bikes and camping gear. We spend two nights at BSA Camp Richard and bike around the island, checking out the sights.
- Nantucket Island Shakedown Rides - We will be planning 2 shakedown rides at the Cape Code Canal, prior to the Nantucket Trip, to make sure that all of our Scouts and their bikes are ready to do a lot of riding on Nantucket. We expect these will likely be in May, once the warm weather sets in on a regular basis.
We look forward to seeing our Scouts this Thursday!
