Webelos Woods - updated


This weekend is Webelos Woods at Camp Norse.  If you are attending, arrival time is 5:00 PM.  Our campsite is Kolli, which is Site #8 on the Camp Norse Map.  Please be sure participants eat dinner before they arrive.

Attached is a tentative schedule, along with a suggested packing list if you are unsure of what to bring.

Aside from the Troop Trailer, vehicles are not to be driven to the campsite.  Personal gear needs to be packed in and out.  Parking in the main Norse lot only.

Reminders

Hope everyone is enjoying the first few days of Fall!  Just a reminder, there is a Troop Meeting this Thursday, September 26th UPSTAIRS at the Parish Hall.  If you haven't already done so, please remember to bring your medical form that was returned to you after summer camp.

Don't forget - Webelos Woods is this coming weekend, September 27th - 29th!

And if you happen to see Mr. Boersdamm today - please wish him a Happy Birthday!!

Venture Crew Meeting

There will be a meeting of the Venture Crew next Thursday, September 26th at the Parish Hall at 6:00 PM.  Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 years of age OR 13 years of age and have completed the the eighth grade and are under 21 years of age.  Venturing's purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.

Congratulations to Cyrus!

Congratulations to Cyrus Bastarache, who achieved the rank of Eagle Scout after a successful Board of Review on September 11th.  Great job, Cyrus!

IMPORTANT REMINDER / MEDICAL FORMS

Please bring your BSA Medical Form that was returned to you after Summer Camp to the first meeting on September 19th.  It needs to be copied and kept on file for future events during the year.  Thank you.

Reminder - First Meeting This Week!

Just a reminder that our first Troop meeting will be held this Thursday, September 19th, DOWNSTAIRS at the Parish Hall at 7:00 PM.

We will need a final count on which scouts will be attending Webelos Woods (September 27th - September 29th at Camp Norse) and MassJam (October 12th - October 14th at the Barnstable County Fairgrounds - see entry below for full information).  If you plan on attending MassJam, you must make payment in full of $50.00 at this week's meeting.

Volunteers Needed for Food Pantry TOMORROW MORNING, 9/14

Mr. Cronin from the Sacred Heart Food Pantry is in desperate need for volunteers tomorrow morning (September 14th) 7:30 AM downstairs at the Parish Hall.  If anyone could volunteer, it would be helpful, and would also count toward any service time you may need for an advancement.  Class A uniforms should be worn.

and we have had to delay the start on occasion until enough people
come in...........................

MassJam 2013


The Troop will be attending MassJam 2013 at the Barnstable County Fairgrounds in East Falmouth, MA.

At this event, thousands of Scouts, Webelos and Venturers from Massachusetts and other states will gather for three days of Scouting fun, exhibits, challenging activities, competitions, entertainment and fellowship.

The event begins on Saturday, October 12th with a check-in at 7:00 AM, and concludes Monday, October 14th with a closing ceremony at 10:00 AM.  The cost for this event is $30.00, plus the Troop will be providing its own food for this event, so that will be an additional cost of $20.00 per person, for a total of $50.00.

The deadline for registration and payment for this event is September 20th, so if you plan on attending, we will need the $50.00 at our first Troop meeting on Thursday, September 19th.

Sacred Heart Food Pantry 5K / Parent Volunteers Needed


The St. Vincent dePaul Society/Sacred Heart Food Pantry is holding its annual 5K on Sunday, September 29th at 10:00 AM.  They have asked the Troop for volunteers to man a water station along the route, but because that is Webelos Woods weekend, it will be difficult for any scouts to volunteer.  It is a time commitment of two to three hours starting around 9:00 AM, and would be a great way to give back to the Troop's sponsor, Sacred Heart Church.

Hiking Merit Badge

Anyone who participated in the Hiking Merit Badge should bring all their paperwork to the first meeting on Thursday, September 19th to have Mr. Gerrior and Mr. Devine sign off on it.
