Troop 20 Court of Honor - Thursday, November 29th at Sacred Heart Parish Hall

Hello Troop 20!

The leaders would like to remind everyone that we will be having our first Court of Honor for the 2018-2019 Scouting Year this Thursday.  All Scouts should be in full Class A uniform for this special occasion.

We are asking Scouts to please arrive at the Parish Hall for 6:30 to help with setup.

Please note that we will not be having any merit badge classes this Thursday.

Our anticipated timeline for the evening will be:

      6:30 - 7:00                 Setup
      7:00 - 8:00                 Court of Honor
      8:00 - 8:30                 Cake and Refreshments

Annual Dues:

Our annual dues will $100 per Scout this year.  These will be due by December 1st.  Checks should be made out to 'Troop 20'.  If you have any questions, please see one of the Scoutmasters or Mrs. Swindle at the Troop meeting.

Ski Trip:
We have secured February 8 to the 10th for the 2019 Ski Trip weekend and we now need commitments from those Scouts who would like to go skiing.  We will need a non-refundable $50 deposit to secure your spot on the trip.  Because we have to pay for the hall, food, lift tickets, and equipment, please understand that once you put your name on the list to go, you are responsible for $50 deposit, whether you actually go or not, so please make sure that weekend works for you before committing.

In the coming weeks we will publish additional information regarding when your deposit is due by, equipment rentals, etc. so stay tuned!

Giving Tree:
Troop 20 will be participating in the Giving Tree this year.  The Giving Tree helps purchase presents for those in our community that otherwise may go without at the Holidays.  At our Court of Honor on the 29th, we will have tags available for Scouts to take.  Each tag will have one present for a Scout to purchase.  After purchasing the gift, Scouts will need to return them at the 12/6 Troop Meeting.

Cyber Chip:

"Today’s youth are spending more time than ever using digital media for education, research, socializing, and fun. To help families and volunteers keep youth safe while online, the Boy Scouts of America introduces the Cyber Chip. In developing this exciting new tool, the BSA teamed up with content expert NetSmartz®, part of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children® and training expert for many law enforcement agencies.  Netsmartz® has created a Scouting portal showcasing Cyber Chip resources, including grade-specific videos, for each level.  Topics include cyberbullying, cell phone use, texting, blogging, gaming, and identity theft." (Scouting.org)

Cyber Chip training is an annual requirement for our Scouts and is required for any Scout to advance in rank.  "All Cyber Chips will expire annually. Each Scout will need to “recharge” the chip by going back to the Netsmartz Recharge area. This space will hold new information, news, and a place for the Scout to recommit to net safety and netiquette. Then, with the unit leader, the Scout can add the new date to the Cyber Chip card or certificate." (Meritbadge.org)

So that all parents and Scouts are aware, in the coming weeks, Troop 20 Scouts will be participating in Cyber Chip Training.

That's all for now.  We look forward to seeing all of our Scouts for this Thursdays Court of Honor!
