Hello Troop 20!

A few announcements for this week:

1)  This Thursday, January 11, there will be a Committee Meeting at 6:00pm in the Sacred Heart Parish Hall.

2)  Also at 6:00pm, there will be a PLC Meeting.  All ASPL's, Patrol Leaders, and Scribe should be present.

4)  This Thursday, Mr. Devine will be continuing with the Communications Merit Badge.  All Scouts participating in this class should come prepared with any material you have completed.  Please remember, it is YOUR responsibility to ensure that the required work is being completed in a timely manner.  If you do not do the work, you will not receive the merit badge and the class will have been an opportunity lost.  Communications is an Eagle required badge so you need to get it done.

5)  For everyone going on the ski trip next weekend, please remember that payment and forms are due this Thursday.  Refer to the blog post earlier this week for information about the trip, prices, and forms.

6)  Lastly, at our last Troop Meeting, Mr. Swindle mentioned a slight modification to the Scout Law for Troop 20.  We have added Responsible to the law so going forward, when Troop 20 recites the law, it will be:

Troop Meeting Cancelled this Thursday, Jan 4, 2018

Happy New Year to everyone in Troop 20!

Well, the weather isn't going to be very friendly this Thursday so as a reminder to everyone in the Troop, our general policy is that if school has been cancelled due to weather, the Troop will follow suit and cancel any Scouting activities, including the Troop meeting.

That said, while we are still awaiting any word regarding school cancellations tomorrow, Sacred Heart has already advised us that the parish hall will not be available due to the potential weather conditions.  As a result, this week's Troop Meeting will be cancelled.

Our next meeting will be Thursday, January 11th.

Stay Safe and Warm!!

Troop 20 Ski Trip

Troop 20 will be heading north for the weekend of January 19th – January 21st  2018 to the Mount Abram Family Ski Resort in Greenwood, Maine for a 2-day snow sports activity weekend.  The troop will be staying at the American Legion Hall in Greenwood, just a few minutes from the ski area.  The troop has been going to Mt. Abram for over 10 years and many of our Scouts first learned to ski at Mt. Abram.  Parents and siblings are also welcome on this trip.

The Troop will provide transportation for the weekend, while Scouts and family members will need to cover the cost of food, lodging, lift tickets, equipment rental, and lessons as listed below.  All prices below are PER DAY.   Advanced skiers may wish to purchase an All-Mountain lift ticket but the West side only is perfectly suitable for both beginner and intermediate skiers.
West side only Lift Ticket              $26 per day
Adult All mountain Lift Ticket     $39 per day
Youth All mountain Lift Ticket    $32 per day
Equipment Rental*                        $21 per day
Helmet Rental**                             $6 per day

Everyone going on the trip that will be skiing or snowboarding needs to complete the Mt Abram liability form.  Anyone needing to rent equipment needs to complete the rental agreement.  Please download and fill out the Liability and Rental forms and bring these along with your payment to the January 4th Troop meeting.  The absolute final deadline for these forms and payment will be the January 11th troop meeting.
We will depart Friday late afternoon/early evening and will arrive back home Sunday late afternoon/evening.  Plan on bringing some money for a mid-way meal/snack stop on both Friday and Sunday.  We will determine the departure times and vehicle assignments at the January 11th meeting. As everyone who has gone before knows, the Mt Abram trip is a great weekend and we hope everyone can attend.   Please see Mr. Sanford with your forms and payments or ask any of the leaders if you have questions.
