Something fun, exciting, interesting, helpful, challenging, etc... but have never told us???
Here's your chance.
Put a comment on this post before August 20th and we will consider your reccomendations during our Summer council meeting the end of August.  You can post annonomously or take credit for the great idea!

Summer Camp Packing List

Summer Camp is only 3 weeks away!
Time to consider what you are going to pack

Packing Suggestions Link from Hidden Valley camp

For you first timers, it is recommended that you have a footlocker type case to pack your gear in.
We purchased ours at the Raynham WalMart last year for around $16.
Make sure you label your footlocker and your gear.
We'll schedule a drop off time at Mr. Lamoureux's home on Saturday the 4th.

Also Mosquito netting is highly recommended.  You will be sleeping in a platform tent with no screens.  We purchased ours at Dick's Sporting Goods last year.

If you have any questions about camp
Now Is The Time To Ask!

Another call for help for one of our own (Note corrected dates)

This just came in,
As many of you know Joe O'Hara and his family have been fortunate enough to be selected for one of the Habitat for Humanity homes. The house is complete and they just heard that they can start moving stuff in NEXT weekend (7/7 & 7/8). His mom, Irene, would like to ask anybody who can help with man power and or truck/moving power for a hand. She will be renting a truck, and will provide food for volunteers. She realizes this is short notice and probably bad timing, but anyone who can help, please contact her directly to let her know who and how you can help. Her number is 508-858-8269. She will be moving between Middleboro and 16 South Pond Rd Plymouth( Rt 3 Exit 5.)

Also, I have been asked again for some volunteers for Sunday July 22nd, at the MHA (Middleborough Historical Association) with their annual Ice Cream Sundae Social. I will be doing free twisty balloons, there will be free face painting, games and entertainment. This will be service time for you, and as an added incentive,  they will wave the Ice Cream Sundae fee for workers who help out. Please contact me (508) 496-8654 and let me know if you can help. they need help for about an hour at 9am to set up, help during the social with the games (2-4) and then a quick cleanup (4-4:30) This event will take place at the Museum grounds where Jimmy did his Eagle Project. Fishing At Pratt Farm

Okay, here's the deal: I will be going fishing at Pratt Farm this Saturday morning.(5/2)
Anyone who wants to join us (friend or family) are welcome. I will be there at 8am rain or shine (obviously, if there are thunderstorms in the area we will have to try to reschedule or cancel) (fish don't care if it rains) I can stay till 10am if need be. I will have some extra fishing rods and gear, as well as some worms, but you are welcome to bring your own gear and bait.
A few things to note:
  • there are no bathrooms there
  • there are ticks there (bug spray)
  • there is a limited amount of actual fishing room, so if we have a lot of people, we will have to rotate and take turns.
  • there is rain in the forecast, so dress accordingly
  • Adults: if you are coming and can stay, please contact me and let me know!
SO, eat first, go the bathroom at home, then join us at Pratt Farm, on Rt 105. I will be at the parking lot at 8, then we will walk to the pond. if you haven't been, just follow the path from the parking lot and take a left at the fork. you will go through some woods, past a field on the right, then the pond is just over a little hill.

If you are doing this for the fishing merit badge, you also need to "acquire and cook" a fish (frozen, fresh, your choice) to finish this requirement (9). We will be following the Scout catch and release rules.

I am putting my email address on the right, but if you need it, my cell phone is 508-496-8654

2) West Point: This is a jamboree style weekend at West Point Military Academy that we have been lucky enough to attend previously and are going back this year. (April 27--29) We have a limited amount of spots still available if you'd like to join us. It will require you taking the Friday (4/27) off from school however, so give it some thought. First come, first served.
3)Summer Camp $50 deposits are due March 8th, NO later then March 15th! We will be making candy bars available so Scouts can defray some if not all of the cost.
4)Nantucket Island (June 29-July 1) This is the big end of the year event. It cost a lot for ferry and such, but the cost will be reduced if we get out there and keep doing our fundraisers. It will be no more than $50, but that can be substantially reduced by a few good fundraiing efforts, such as our ongoing scrap metal drive.
5)Edaville RR Railroading camporee (May 18- May 20) Earn the Railroading Merit Badge and have a fun camping experience at a cool place all in one weekend!

Lastly, I have someone's Blades of Glory DVD. (You have the empty box for it!)
and BTW, birds are flying North
