Troop Meeting - Thursday 9/5 7:00 - 8:30PM / Sacred Heart Parish Hall

Hello Troop 20!

We hope everyone has been having a wonderful summer break!

Troop 20 will hold it's opening Troop Meeting for the 2019-2020 Scouting Year on Thursday, September 5th, at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall.  7:00 - 8:30PM as always.  We want to start the Troop meetings just a little earlier this year to give us time to plan for some upcoming events.  We also need to start planning for SPL elections and continue our discussions about a possible merger with Troop 96 and how that would work.

We're looking forward to seeing ALL of our Scouts September 5th, in uniform and looking sharp.  Have a great Labor Day Holiday!

Upcoming Events:

Weekend of September 21 - Troop recruiting event at the Middleborough Town Hall, front lawn.

October 4 to October 6 - Washburn Island Canoe/Camping Trip.  We will be planning logistics, meal plans, etc.

We look forward to seeing everyone on September 5th!

Informational Meeting for Leaders & Parents - Thursday, 8/15 at 7:00PM

Hello Leaders & Parents of Troop 20,

As some of you may or may not have heard through the grapevine, over the summer, the leaders of Troop 20 and Troop 96, Middleborough, have been in discussion about a possible merger of our two Troops.  This Thursday, August 15th, Joe Livingston from Narragansett Council will be hosting an informational meeting at the Middleborough Public Library to further those talks and help us understand what the process would be, should we choose to move forward and merge the two units.

The meeting is for all leaders, as well as any parents that would like to attend.  Start time will be 7:00PM and attendees may arrive anytime after 6:30PM.  Please refer to the email below from Joe Livingston regarding this meeting.  We hope to see all leaders, as well as any interested parents, this Thursday for a productive and positive discussion.

Again, please note that this meeting is for leaders and parents only.  We are
asking that no Scouts be in attendance at this early stage of talks, with the possible exception of the Senior Patrol Leaders.  If/when details firm up, and we have a plan forward, we will bring all members of both Troops up-to-speed.

                                              Thank you for your time,
                                              The leaders of Troop 20

Yard work for an elderly veteran - This Sunday, 8/4, at 1:00PM

Hello Troop 20!

Just a reminder for everyone who is volunteering that we will be helping an elderly veteran in town who is presently undergoing chemotherapy and is too weak to do the work needed to take care of his home, that he would normally do.  His address is 49 Anderson Ave in Middleboro.  We are meeting at 1:00PM and we will be trimming some bushes along one side of his yard and removing some brush (bushes and small trees) growing up around a garage/workshop next to his house.  All of the yard waste will be disposed of on his property.  We estimate that this should take approximately 2-4 hours for a small group of Scouts and Leaders.
Volunteers are asked to please bring work gloves, bug spray, and a water bottle.

This effort will be greatly appreciated by this person and it's another way for all of us to say Thank You to him for his service to our country!
