Committee Meeting, Thursday 4/29 - 6:00PM

There will be a committee meeting this Thursday at 6:00pm at Sacred Heart Parish Hall.  We will have our regular weekly Troop Meeting from 7:00 - 8:30pm.

 Hello Troop 20!

We hope everyone enjoyed the April break to get some rest and hopefully have some fun.  We are happy to report that currently, the town of Middleborough has dropped back into the yellow zone for COVID risk levels and as such, we have been given permission to use the Parish hall.  So, that said:

There will be a Troop Meeting this Thursday, April 29th at 7:00PM at Sacred Heart Parish Hall!  Please note that we are returning to our regular meeting time of 7:00-8:30PM.

Please remember that we line up for our opening ceremony at 7:00PM so you need to plan to be at the hall about 10 minutes earlier.  Please arrive wearing your Class A uniform and have a mask.

Also, please remember that all Scouts should be bringing their Scout Handbooks and backpacks to every Troop meeting.  For new Scouts, we can cover what you'll need for your Troop meeting backpack.

Upcoming Events:

4/29	At this week's Troop meeting, we are planning to set up and inspect our Troop tents so that we can assess their condition.  We haven't been able to use them in quite some time so we need to make sure they are clean and serviceable.
5/2	The Troop will be participating in a mulch spreading fundraiser on Sunday, May 2nd at 1:00PM.  The work will take place at 16 Renwick Drive, Norton, MA.
TBD	Camping - Currently, the state is not granting permission for any camping activities so our camping trip is postponed until such time that the state will allow us to return to the campgrounds.  We will try to keep everyone apprised as we learn more.

Help Needed After Troop Meetings:  In order for us to return to the Parish Hall, we are going to need 2-3 volunteers (Scouts and/or leaders) to stay after the meeting for a short period of time and help us sanitize the hall.  We also need sanitation supplies, as the church does not provide those for us, so any donations would be greatly appreciated.

Camping Trip to be re-scheduled

Hello Troop 20!

Unfortunately, we are going to have to re-schedule the camping trip we were trying to plan for this weekend.  The state has not yet granted us permission to camp so we will have to look for another date once things start to open up a little more.  Please stay tuned for more information as we sort out details.

Again, we apologize for any disappointment but we need to follow the state guidelines.

Mulch Spreading Fund Raiser - May 2nd, 1:00PM

 Hello Everyone!

The Troop will be participating in a mulch spreading fundraiser on Sunday, May 2nd at 1:00PM.  The work will take place at 16 Renwick Drive, Norton, MA.

Scouts are asked to please bring a wheelbarrow and pitch fork for moving the mulch if possible.  They should also bring a full water bottle and work gloves.

This is a great opportunity for those Scouts who show up, to earn money in their Scout accounts as well as earning important community service hours needed for rank advancement.  We anticipate earning over $300 for an afternoon of work.

If you are able to attend, we will have a sign-up sheet at our next Troop meeting.

BREAKING NEWS: Troop Meeting Cancelled for tonight, Thursday April 15th

Hello Troop 20!

BREAKING NEWS:  We were just informed that the town of Middleborough has flipped back into the red zone for being high risk of COVID-19 transmission.  As a result, the archdiocese has temporarily suspended our use of the Sacred Heart Parish Hall.  Because of this, we are needing to cancel tonight's Troop Meeting.

As next week is school break, we will not have a Troop meeting on the 22nd either.

Please keep an eye on the blog for updates.  We are hopeful that the town will move out of the red zone soon as we can begin meeting at the hall.

Also, please watch the blog for updates regarding the upcoming camping trip.  We have learned that Camp Sayer is full for the 23rd and 24th so we are looking into options for another site.  Stay tuned...

Troop Meeting - Thursday 4/15 7:00 - 8:30PM / Sacred Heart Parish Hall

 Hello Troop 20!

It's hard to believe that when we met as a Troop on March 12, 2020 things would so dramatically change for all of us.  It's been a very different year for us but we think it's been a really good year for all of our Scouts, much of it thanks to the generosity of Reedy's Archery, who offered us the use of their downstairs range to use as our meeting place.  Reedy's allowed us to continue bringing our Scouts together, week after week, and we can't thank them enough for their support and hospitality.  We are working on a nice thank you gift for them and will let everyone know when it's time to present them with it.

While Reedy's has been our temporary home to keep our Troop going these past few months, the time has come for us to begin returning to some sense of normalcy.  After 13 months away, the leadership of Troop 20 is excited to say:

Troop Meeting - Monday, 4/5 6:00-7:30pm at Reedy's Archery

Hello Troop 20!

Just a reminder that we will be having our regular Troop Meeting this Monday, April 5th, 6:00-7:30pm at Reedy's Archery in the downstairs range.  This will be our last Troop meeting at Reedy's as we will be returning to the Sacred Heart parish Hall on Thursday, April 15th.

Please remember that we line up for our opening ceremony at 6:00pm so plan to be at Reedy's 10 minutes earlier.  Please arrive wearing your Class A uniform.

REMINDER:  We will be taking a Troop photo Monday evening so we would like to see all of our Scouts and leaders there, especially our Eagle Scouts, in uniform and looking sharp.

Returning to Sacred Heart Parish Hall

 Hello Troop 20!

We have received word from Sacred Heart that we can once again meet at the Parish Hall for our Troop meetings.  With this news, our meeting schedule will now be as follows:

Monday, April 5th - We will be meeting at Reedy's Archery at 6:00PM.  This will be our last meeting there.  We are asking all Scouts to be in uniform as we will be taking a Troop picture as part of a Thank You gift that we will be presenting to Reedy's in the near future.  We would like to see ALL of our Scouts there to get a great picture.

Thursday, April 15th - We will begin meeting at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall and returning to our old Troop Meeting Schedule of 7:00 - 8:30PM.  If anyone feels this time will present a problem with being able to attend Troop Meetings, please be at the Troop Meeting on the 5th so that we can discuss options.

We are looking forward to getting back to our old routine!
