Troop Meeting this Thursday, January 26th - Sacred Heart Parish Hall

We will be having our weekly troop meeting this Thursday, the 26th, at Sacred Heart Parish Hall.

1) This weekend will be the Klondike Derby at Camp Norse, 112 Parting Ways Road, Kingston, MA.  This year, the troop will be staying Friday and Saturday nights at the Olaf cabin.  Please see the map below for the cabin location.  The cost for the Klondike Derby will be $20 per Scout to cover the cost of registration, the Klondike patch, and food for the weekend.

The $20 fee is due at this Thursday's troop meeting or on Friday when you arrive at Camp Norse.  Payment can be made in cash or by check made out to Troop 20.

2)  We had a lot of food leftover from this past weekends ski trip so in an effort to not let it go to waste, we will be putting together a menu for the weekend instead of the planned patrol menus.  Eric Grady will have more info at Thursday's troop meeting.

3)  We will be starting the Family Life merit badge this Thursday.  This is an Eagle required merit badge so we strongly encourage any scout in need of eagle requirements to participate.

Troop Updates - January 11, 2107

Hello Troop 20!  A few updates for this week:

1)  This weeks committee meeting has been pushed to next week, the 19th.  This is necessary due to events taking place at BP and Middleboro High School which require the attendance of several committee members.

2)  Ski Trip - Pricing for the ski trip was posted to the blog.  At this week's troop meeting, everyone going on the trip needs to have forms and money into Mr. Gilson.
You must ensure that Mrs. Swindle has a current medical form on file!

3)  This Saturday, January 14th, will be the leaders CPR class.  Start time is 8:30am at the Parish Hall.  Please make sure you let Asst. Scoutmaster Lamoureux know (call his cell phone) if you plan to attend so that he can arrange for the class materials.  The cost is $25.00 per person.

4)  The Klondike Derby is coming up January 28th.  We have a signup sheet available so please make sure your name is on that document if you plan to attend.  We have a cabin reserved for that evening if you plan to stay overnight.  At this week's troop meeting, we will need to work out details for food and any activities.
Note:  We need to carefully inspect the Klondike sled this week so that any repairs needed can be completed in time.  Please see Mr. Pierce with any needed work.

5)  For those scouts attending the Emergency Preparedness merit badge class, Mr. Brown will be continuing with that class at the troop meeting.

Crew Meeting - January 8th 6pm

The next Crew Meeting will be on Sunday, January 8th at 6pm in the Rectory House of the church at 340 Center St in Middleboro, Ma.

At the last meeting it was decided by the Youth to join with Venture Crew 20 and make one strong crew instead of two weak crews.

Several things have happened that helped to make this decision.  The existing Youth Leadership is gone and a new Group of Adults will be helping to advise the crew.

The plan is to have elections and pick a new Youth Leadership.

That being said we encourage everyone to be at this meeting so that all issues and concerns can be addressed.

After elections we would like to plan some events for the future (trips or activities) and start to get the crew more active.

Please make sure you bring your membership applications if you have not turned them into me as I need all of them to register the crew.  If you are new to scouts or have turned 18 and not registered with your troop the cost for registration for the 2017 the cost is $24.  If you are still registered in troop you are all set.

If you have someone that would like to join the crew please feel free to invite them.
