Scouting For Food - Help on Saturday

The food donations that are collected on Saturday for "Scouting for Food" are to be brought to the Parish Hall for sorting and counting, as these totals must be reported to Council.  If anyone is available to help anytime between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM on Saturday (November 2nd), please come to the Parish Hall.  Mr. Cunningham will be there, but he would appreciate any assistance and time the people can give.

Popcorn - Important!

We need a count of which scouts have sold popcorn.  If you have a sheet with orders on it, can you please email Mrs. Wilbur at swilbur34@comcast.net so she has an idea of what the Troop has sold.  Even if you haven't sold any yet, or if you don't plan on having any orders, can you please send her an email so she can get an idea of what stock will be needed.

"Scouting for Food" Door Hanger Dropoff Tomorrow

Tomorrow, October 26th, is the first part of the "Scouting for Food" program.  Please leave the door hangers on as many homes as possible in your area (and note where you leave them, so you remember where to return to on November 2nd!).   Class A uniforms should be worn for both door hanger drop off and donation pickup.

The Sacred Heart Food Pantry has given us a list of suggested items that they are in need of - it may be helpful to either write a few of them as suggestions on the door hangers, or attach a printed list, but please emphasize that all donations are welcomed!   If you have access to a printer, I am attaching the list to make it easier if you want to attach it to the door hangers.

The suggestions are:

Pancake mix

Pancake syrup

Chef Boy R Dee products

Hamburger or Tuna Helper

Any type of dry meals

Microwave meals

Crushed pineapple

Boxed pasta (not spaghetti or elbows)

Ketchup

Ramen noodles

Baked beans

Jello

IMPORTANT REMINDERS!

Tomorrow is our first Court of Honor of the 2013 -2014 year.  Scouts should arrive at 6:00 PM for setup.  Parents and other family members (grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.) are welcome to attend this event to see what accomplishments our scouts have achieved in the past few months!

Also, popcorn orders should be brought tomorrow night to have scouts names' entered to win prizes for their sales achievements.  There will be a sign up sheet for anyone for anyone who can volunteer for a "Show and Sell" at Bass Pro Shops in Foxborough on Saturday, November 16th

Scouting for Food 2013

This year Troop 20 will be participating in the "Scouting for Food" campaign.  The Boy Scouts of America started the Scouting for Food program in 1985, and has collected over 43 million items to supply food banks across America.  The donations that we receive for Troop 20 will be distributed to the St. Vincent dePaul Society, which oversees the food pantry at Sacred Heart Church, our troop's sponsor organization.  It is our hope that we will be able to fill a truck with our donations!

On October 24th (this coming Thursday night), we will have door hangers that explain the collection process available for scouts to take and distribute to as many homes as possible in nearby neighborhoods.  These door hangers will be left at residences on Saturday, October 26th.  The scouts will then return on Saturday, November 2nd to pick up donated items.

Scrap Metal Pickups - TOMORROW!

Tomorrow is a very busy day for our scrap metal collection fundraiser.  Through this program, funds are raised to help the Troop sponsor various important events throughout the year.

Help is needed tomorrow, Saturday, October 19th, to help collect and sort metal items that have been donated to the Troop.  Please meet at Mr. Holt's house at 57 Short Street, Middleborough at 7:30 AM to help.  There are many pickups to be made, and help is needed.  This event will continue until the work is finished.

If you are available to help, please be at Mr. Holt's house at 7:30 AM.  Thanks and have a great weekend!

Return your Tents

Ground tarps and Tents brought home from either MassJAM or Webelos Woods are to be returned clean and dry tonight to our Quartermaster.

Make sure you let them know if anything is damaged / missing or the numbers don't match.

If you are not going to troop meeting tonight, make arrangements with Quartermaster to get them returned ASAP

Troop Meeting Tomorrow - DOWNSTAIRS

Just a reminder there will be a regular Troop Meeting tomorrow night at 7:00 PM DOWNSTAIRS at the Parish Hall.

Also, all scouts need to bring their books!  Due to problems identifying which book belongs to which scout - all books must have the scout's name written across the outside pages in marker.  Hopefully this will help with the issue of lost books.

Please Check Your Books!

Could everyone please check to make sure that the book you took home from the Troop meeting tonight belongs to you?  Jacob and Alex are missing their books - so please check to make sure you have you own book.  If you have one of the missing books, please let Mr. Lamoureux know.

Only a few days left till MassJAM!

Bring your meal ideas to Thursday's troop meeting we will be providing meals for 30 scouters

Saturday
-Arrive at the Hall at 5:30am
-We travel in our Class A uniform
-Bring a snack and drink with you, it may be a while before we are able to set up our campsite
-If you take medication, be sure to bring enough for the long weekend
-You will need a Water Bottle and Daypack on this trip

Monday
-Expect to be back to Middleboro around noon

Venture Crew Meeting

There will be a Venture Crew meeting this Thursday, October 10th, at the Parish Hall at 6:00 PM.

Please be aware, per the Middleborough Police Department, there is no parking on either side of the street in front of the Sacred Heart Parish Hall on Oak Street.  Please be aware of this during drop off and pick up, before and after the Troop meetings.

Help Needed on Saturday

The Troop has some kayaks that have been stored at Mr. Holt's home for a while.  They need to be cleaned . . . and we need some scouts to help!  The Troop will provide all the cleaning supplies - we just need some "Scout Power" to help clean them up!

If you could possible help, please be at Mr. Holt's house at 57 Short Street, Middleborough at 9:00 AM on Saturday, October 5th . . . a be prepared to get a little wet!
