End of Year Court of Honor this Thursday, June 20th, at 7:00pm - Sacred Heart Parish Hall

Hello Troop 20!

We will be having our 2018/2019 end of year Court of Honor, this Thursday at 7:00pm - Sacred Heart Parish Hall.  We will also be crossing over two Cub Scouts as new members of Troop 20!

Scouts should plan to arrive for 6:00PM to help setup.  Remember, this is a Court of Honor so Scouts should be in full Class A uniform.


Here are this week's announcements:

End of Year Camping Trip:  We will be heading to Shawme Crowell State forest this Friday, Saturday, Sunday, June 21-23 for our end of year camping trip.

We will meet at Shawme Crowell.  Scouts should plan to arrive between 3:00 - 6:00.  We are in Camp Group Site 1.  There should be signs when you enter the forest.  The Troop will be providing dinner Friday night at 7:00PM

Scouts should have food for Saturday and Sunday morning.  They should also have their bike and a water bottle to have for any bike rides we do during the weekend.  They should also have appropriate clothing for the weather, appropriate camping gear, and bug spray.  If anyone has any questions, please see one of the leaders this Thursday.

Shawme Crowell is located in Sandwich, MA.  To get there:

• From Middleborough, take Rt. 495 South.
• Cross the Bourne Bridge
• Go around the rotary and follow Sandwich Road for approx. 4.5 miles.
• Bear right onto Rt. 130 S / Main Street
• Follow Rt. 130 South for about 1/2 mile to the entrance to Shawme Crowell State Forest.  42 Main Street, Sandwich, MA 02563
• The entrance to the park is Flatrock Road.  Signage is small so you'll need to watch for signs to Groupsite 1

Summer Camp:  We are making one last call for anyone who wants to attend summer camp in July.  We are partnered with Troop 96 and they will have 5 Scouts going.  So far, we only have 1 Scout from Troop 20, Sully Padget.  I'm sure Sully would like to have some company from the Troop!!

Troop Meeting this Thursday, 6/13 at Sacred Heart Parish Hall - 7:00pm

Hello Troop 20!

We will be having our regular Troop Meeting this Thursday, May 30th, at 7:00pm.  Sacred Heart Parish Hall.  Please remember that we line up for our opening ceremony at 7:00PM so you need to plan to be at the hall 10-15 minutes earlier, in Class A uniform.

At this week's Troop Meeting, we are planning to practice for our end of year Court of Honor and possibly have a backpacking demonstration.

If you have any blue cards to turn in for merit badges, please make sure you do so this Thursday so that you can receive your merit badges at next week's Court of Honor.  Also, if you are ready to move up in rank and need a Board of Review, we will take care of that on Thursday as well.


Troop Planning & Events:



- End of year, Court of Honor - We will have our final Court of Honor for the year next Thursday, June 20th, at Sacred Heart Parish Hall.  Please plan to be there with your families as we close out the 2018-2019 Scouting Year and recognize our Scouts who have earned merit badges and rank advancements!


- Campout at Camp Shawme-Crowell - We will be having another campout June 21-June 23 at Shawme-Crowell State Forest, located in Sandwich MA.  Details are being firmed up and we will let everyone know as soon as we have more information to pass along but make sure you get these dates on your calendar.  It should be a really fun time with over 15 miles of roads and trails, there should be lots of opportunities for bike rides, hikes, etc.  Please put your name on the sign-up sheet at this week's Troop Meeting.

- Medical Forms - We need updated medical forms for all of our Scouts

Committee Meeting / Troop Meeting this Thursday, June 6th, at Sacred Heart Parish Hall - 6:15pm Committee / 7:00pm Troop

Hello Troop 20!

There will be a committee meeting this Thursday at 6:15pm at Sacred Heart Parish Hall.
We will have our regular weekly Troop Meeting from 7:00 - 8:30pm.  Please remember that we line up for our opening ceremony at 7:00PM so you need to plan to be at the hall about 10 minutes earlier, in Class A uniform.


Upcoming Eagle Scout Project for Jacob Rebell

- This Saturday, June 8th, Jacob will be starting work on his Eagle Scout Service Project.  Jacob will be refurbishing a storage shed for the Middleborough Park Department.  The shed is located at Battis Field in Middleborough.  Work will begin at 9:00AM and Jacob is asking for volunteers to please come out to help him with his project.  He asks that Scouts and volunteers please bring gloves and safety glasses.  You should also plan to wear clothes that you do not mind getting paint on as he will very likely be painting on Saturday.

Let's have a great turnout to help our SPL get his service project done!


Troop Fundraising

- Mrs. MacDonald has arranged for a Troop 20 fundraiser, next Thursday (6/13), at Papa Gino's restaurant in Middleborough, from 4:00PM - 9:00PM.  The Troop will earn 20% of the sales from our Families and Friends during this time.  Please see the flyer below for details.  Mrs. MacDonald will have paper copies of the flyer available at this week's Troop Meeting and will have it posted to Facebook as well.  We're asking our Scouts and their families to please share the flyer with family and friends, as well as via their social media apps.  Let's get the word out.  The more people we get to Papa Gino's between 4:00 - 9:00PM on the 13th, the more money we make for the Troop to do activities!

Merit Badges

- Mr. McKinnon should be at this week's Troop Meeting so that anyone who participated in the classes for the Citizenship merit badges can show him your completed workbooks so that he can sign off and you can receive the merit badge(s) at our last Court of Honor.

Scouts not working on merit badges should have their Scout Handbooks with them to work on any rank requirements that they can fit in during the meeting.

End of Year Court of Honor

- Our end of year Court of Honor will be held on Thursday, June 20th.  If you have any blue cards to turn in, please get them to Mrs. Grady ASAP so that she has time to enter the information and get the badges to be presented to you on the 20th.  If you have any final requirements done for your next rank, please see Mr. Swindle or one of the assistant Scout Masters to get things signed off and get a Scoutmaster Conference scheduled so that we have time for your board of review.  All of this takes a little planning and time to arrange so please don't wait until the last minute to talk with a Scoutmaster otherwise we may run out of time.  We don't want to disappoint anyone for the end of year Court of Honor.
