Saturday Hike Postponed

Hi Everyone,

Due to the weather being forecasted for this weekend, we are postponing Saturday's hike at the Morgan property to a later date that's more conducive to being outside.  The weather for this weekend is calling for very cold temperatures with windchill's well below zero degrees, which will make it very difficult to do some of the activities we were planning and generally won't make for a pleasurable experience.

We will be looking at the weather for the next few upcoming weekends and re-scheduling for the first opportunity.

Troop Contact Information Forms

 Remind Service - Contact Information Form:

The Troop is planning to use the Remind service as a means to contact Scouts with late breaking or time sensitive information.  In preparation, we need all of our Scouts to complete a simple online contact information Google form at the link below. Please try to have this completed before our next Troop meeting on Monday, 2/1.

Troop Meeting - Monday, 1/25 6:00-7:30pm at Reedy's Archery

 Hello Troop 20 & 96!

We will have our regular Troop Meeting this Monday, January 25th, 6:00-7:30pm at Reedy's Archery in the downstairs range.

Please remember that we line up for our opening ceremony at 6:00pm so plan to be at Reedy's 10 minutes earlier.  Please arrive wearing your Class A uniform.

Hike next Saturday, January 30th - 11:00am at the Morgan Property

Hello Troop 20!

We are planning a hike next Saturday, January 30th at the Stuart Morgan Property in Middleborough, weather permitting.  We're planning to meet at the Morgan Property parking area at 10:45am and we'll be stepping off at 11:00am.  Scouts will need comfortable walking/hiking shoes (sneakers are not recommended), have a day pack with water and snacks, and have your scout ten essentials.

This will be a great opportunity for any Scouts in need of a 5-miler for rank and just a great time for our Scouts to get back outside in nature and have fun. We will have more information at the Troop meeting on Monday.

For anyone who has never been here before, the Morgan Property is located on Long Point Road, off of Marion Road.

 There are parking areas located on both sides of the road, about 1/4 mile from the intersection of Long Point Road and Marion Road.

We hope to see all of our Scouts on the 30th to get back outside!

Scrap Metal Collection - Saturday, January 23rd

Hello Troop 20!

The scrap metal collection that was postponed last weekend will take place this Saturday, 1/23 at 9:00AM.  We need as many Scouts as possible as there is a lot of work to do.  If you can be there, we are asking that you please email Mr. Holt (rholtelectric@yahoo.com) to confirm.  Please remember to cc: another adult when you email him.

Please remember to bring a mask and we suggest you also bring work gloves and water.

Congratulations to Troop 20's newest Eagle Scouts - Sullivan Padgett and Jacob Rebell

 

The Leaders and Scouts of Troop 20 would like to extend our congratulations to our newest Eagle Scouts and their families - Sullivan Padgett and Jacob Rebell!  

Sully and Jacob successfully passed their Eagle Boards of Review this evening, January 19th, 2021.  Please extend your congratulations to Sully and Jacob the next time you see them!

No Troop Meeting this Monday, January 18th

Hi Everyone!

Just a reminder that there will not be a Troop meeting this Monday, January 18th in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.  We will resume Troop meetings on Monday, January 25th.

Scrap metal collection postponed to Saturday, January 23rd

 Hello Troop 20!

The weather forecast for this Saturday is calling for heavy rain in the morning, which is the only window we have available for the scrap metal collection.  As a result, we are postponing the work until next Saturday, the 23rd.  We will post another update later in the week with details.

Troop Meeting - Monday, 1/11 6:00-7:30pm at Reedy's Archery

Please note that since last week, Reedy's Archery has decided to return to it's original hours of operation and as such, they WILL be open on Monday's going forward, so both entrances will be available.

Reminders:

• Annual Dues:  The Troop leadership has decided that annual dues for the remainder of the 2020-2021 Scouting Year will be $40.  We are asking all Scouts to please bring in your $40 to the next Troop meeting.  Checks should be made payable to 'Troop 20'.

• Troop Calendar:  The link on our blog page to the Troop calendar has been updated to show the new 2020-2021 Troop Calendar.  As we start to plan some outdoor activities, we will update the calendar so that Scouts and their families now what may be coming for the Scout year.

• Merit Badges:
• We'd like to remind everyone that Mr. McKinnon is available to be a merit badge counselor for the Citizenship merit badges, American Heritage, and Coin Collecting.  If you haven't yet earned the 3 Citizenship merit badges, and you're planning to pursue the Eagle Scout rank, the Citizenship merit badges are all required, so take advantage of this great opportunity. If you are interested, please let one of the leaders know at the Troop meeting and we can help make arrangements with Mr. McKinnon for a Zoom class.

• Mr. Pierce is also available to be a merit badge counselor for the Automotive Maintenance, Digital Technology, Electronics, and Radio merit badges so if any of these interest you, please let Mr. Pierce know and we can schedule classes.
