Offsite Activity this Thursday, February 7th - Ryan Family Amusement, Raynham, MA, 7:00PM

Hello Troop 20!

This week we will be meeting at Ryan Family Amusement in Raynham for Bowling.  We expect the cost for each Scout to be around $10.  Please plan to meet at Ryan Family Amusement a little before 7:00 so that we can get everyone settled with bowling shoes and get alleys assigned.

Merit Badges

There will be no merit badge classes this week.  Those Scouts participating in the Citizenship and Pet Care merit badges should make sure they are completing the required work and be ready to show progress at the next class.  We will announce the calendar for upcoming classes shortly.

REMINDER - Care Package for Mr. Devine:

We are looking at putting together a care package to send to Mr. Devine, who is currently deployed overseas with the U.S. Army. If any Scouts would like to donate some items to send, we have a small list of things that Scouts could purchase and bring to the Troop meeting in the next couple of weeks.
  • Wet Wipes
  • Clif Bars (Macadamia Nut)
  • Unsalted Cashews
  • Pre-cooked Bacon
  • Beef Jerky
Please see one of the Scoutmasters if you have, or are interested, in any donations.

Troop Planning & Events:

- Webelos Night, March 14th - We are looking at hosting Webelos Scouts on Thursday March 14th.  We will have stations setup in the church hall, that will be manned by our Boy Scouts, where we can teach Scouting skills to the Webelos and give them a view into what we do as Boy Scouts in Troop 20. Mr. Goodrich is helping with the planning for this event so stay tuned for more details.

- Nantucket Island - We are still tentatively planning a camping/bike trip to Nantucket Island for June 21-23.  The dates are tentative because we are still confirming that we can get ferry reservations.  We will have updates very soon, once the ferry starts accepting spots for vehicles.

For any Scouts that have never been to Nantucket with the Troop, this is a great trip that everyone always enjoys.  We head over on a Friday morning and we bring over the Scouts bikes and camping gear.  We spend two nights at BSA Camp Richard and bike around the island, checking out the sights.

We will have more information for everyone as we firm up dates.

- Canoeing- Many of our Scouts probably do not know that the Troop has several canoes that we have not used in some time.  So, once the warmer weather arrives, we are looking into the possibility of dusting off the Troop canoes and doing some canoe trips on the Nemasket River and maybe even a canoe camping trip to the Murdock Street campsite.  We will begin trying to firm up details in the coming months so stay tuned.

- Camping - We are looking into a camping trip at Camp Norse in the cabins for early March.  Stay tuned for more updates.
